Crimson Tide Kickoff 2011

Once again myself and the Roll Bama Roll crew have banded together to produce the finest season preview magazine covering Alabama football available - The Crimson Tide Kickoff 2011.

My contributions to this year's effort include an interview with Keith Dunnavant on the subject of oft-overlooked Alabama great Bart Starr, an account of my trip from Los Angeles to Tuscaloosa bringing donations to the victims of the April 27 tornadoes and a historical importance of the 1959 Liberty Bowl that pitted Alabama against Penn State.

The last is the result of weeks of research and labor. The contest marked the first time Alabama played a team with an integrated roster. The milestone paved the way for Paul W. Bryant's success in the 1960s and the eventual integration of the Crimson Tide program.

You can find The Crimson Tide Kickoff 2011 at newsstands or order it directly through the Maple Street Press website. Roll Tide!
